SL wins Test against Bangladesh
Sri Lanka won the first Test match against Bangladesh by 209 runs.
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 493 for 7 in the first innings with skipper Dimuth Karunaratne scoring 118 and Lahiru Thirimanne 140, whilst Bangladesh mustered up a total of 251 runs.
Praveen Jayawickrama, who made his Test debut in bowling, took six wickets in the first innings, and five in the second, bagging a grand total of 11 wickets throughout the match.
Jayawickrama became the first Sri Lankan bowler to claim a 10-wicket haul on debut, winning him the title of Man of the Match.
Both Dimuth Karunaratne and Lahiru Thirimanne bagged centuries during their partnership, playing pivotal roles in shaping up the outcome of this Test.
Karunaratne was named Man of the Series.
