SL to sign MoU with Chinese firm to promote Tea
The Sri Lankan Government has decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Chinese trading company to promote ‘Pure Ceylon Tea’ in China utilising both online and offline platforms.
Minister for Plantation Dr. Ramesh Pathirana proposed that an MoU be signed between Fujian Star China International Trade Company, a subsidiary of Bennie Tea Industry Company, and Sri Lanka Tea Board to Market ‘Pure Ceylon Tea’ online and offline platforms across China.
China’s Bennie Tea Industry Company is engaged in import, export and e-commerce mainly for clearance. According to a Cabinet Paper Fujian Star China International Trade Company under the MoU has agreed to develop a 5G online marketing platform to promote and market the Sri Lankan Tea Logo apart from distributing ‘Pure Ceylon Tea’ in China.
