SL qualify for super 12 round with win over Ireland
Sri Lanka has qualified for the Super 12 round of the men’s T-20 World Cup 2021 with their second win in the tournament.
Today (20), they registered a convincing 70-run win over Ireland in Abu Dhabi, after having beaten Namibia earlier.
Asked to bat first, Sri Lanka scored 171 for seven.
They were three down for five runs at one stage.
However, fifties by Wanindu Hasaranga (off 47 deliveries with one six and 10 fours) and opener Pathum Nissanka 61(off 47 deliveries with one six and six fours) helped their team to a good score.Skipper Dasun Shanaka also contributed a quick-fire 21 off 11 deliveries with one six and two fours.
In bowling for Ireland, Josh Little captured four wickets for 23.
Replying, Ireland were bowled out for 101 off 18.3 overs.
Andy Balbirnie made 41, while Curtis Campher scored 24.
Maheesh Theekshana was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers, taking three for 17.
Lahiru Kumara and Chamika Karunaratne claimed two wickets each.
Hasaranga was the player of the match.
