SL Air Force’s 70th Anniversary Today

A total of 23 Indian Air Force and Indian Navy aircraft will participate in an aerobic display over Galle Face Green during the three–day period covering from tomorrow (3) to Friday (5) to celebrate Sri Lanka Air Force’s 70th Anniversary which falls today (2), the Indian High Commission said.
These aircraft which comprise Sarang (advance light helicopter), Surya Kiran (hawks), Tejas fighter aircraft, Tejas trainer and the Dornier maritime patrol aircraft arrived in Colombo on Saturday (27).
During the ceremony, SLAF and Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) officers will have firsthand experience onboard the Dornier, while SLAF pilots and SLN observers will fly along with the Indian crew, the High Commission said.
This is in continuation of the half yearly Dornier training sorties being facilitated for SLAF/ SLN,’ it added. Sri Lanka is ‘Priority One’ partner for India in the sphere of defence, the High Commission further said. The participation of Indian Air Force and Indian Navy aircraft and personnel in the 70th Anniversary celebration of SLAF is indicative of the growing cooperation, camaraderie, and friendship between the armed forces of the two nations, the High Commission in conclusion said.
