MPs of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) have decided to boycott Parliament, refusing to enter till their safety is assured.

Accordingly, the MPs are currently protesting in front of the Parliamentary complex.

SJB MPs walked out of parliament on Saturday (04) in protest against alleged threats by government members, with chief opposition whip Lakshman Kiriella declaring theywould not attend House sessions until their safety is guaranteed.

Trouble began on Friday (03), when SJB MP Manusha Nanayakkara leveled allegations against ruling members, including state minister Kanchana Wijesekara, and tabled documents to support his claims.

A time allocation issue also arose on the occasion.

Kiriella charged that ruling members made two attempts to attack Nanayakkara.
