SJB lauds India – Kavinda
By Buddhika Samaraweera
As the Opposition, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is grateful to the Indian Government for providing Sri Lanka with 500,000 Oxford-AstraZeneca Covishield vaccines free, said MP Dr. Kavinda Jayawardena.
He said the vaccine had shown significant success, though not 100 per cent. He also said it was the responsibility of the Government and all parties to encourage people to use only scientifically proven immunity boosters, instead of using tonics like what was introduced by Dhammika Bandara in Kegalle.
“In the recent past, the Speaker and even the Ministers were consuming tonics and promoting them. But what they need to do is direct people to scientifically tested things,” he said, and added the Government should take steps to inoculate all eligible people. He said he hoped sufficient vaccinations will be imported.
