Point Pedro Magistrate Gayathri Sayileshan yesterday (5) released on bail former TNA Provincial Council member M.K. Sivajilingam, who was earlier arrested by the Velvettithurai Police on charges of evading Court.

Police said  Sivajilingam was arrested on a warrant for avoiding Court proceedings in connection with a case on commemorating the birthday of slain LTTE Leader  Velupillai Prabakaranin Valvettithurai on 26 November 2018, and for obstructing duties of Police Officers who went there to stop the commemoration.

The Magistrate ordered to call the case on 20 January 2021. Sivajilingam was arrested at his residence. Further investigations are being carried out by the Valvettithurai Police.

Sivajilingam is a candidate in the upcoming General Election from Thamizh Makkal Kootani (TMK), led by former Northern Province Chief Minister C.V.Wigneswaran.
