Shani further remanded

Gampaha Acting Magistrate Mahesh Herath yesterday further remanded till 3 February, ex-Director of the CID Shani Abeysekera and two others who have been charged with falsification of evidence and deceiving the Court.

The other two suspects were identified as Mohana Mendis and H.D. Navaratne Premathilaka.

The CCD appearing for the prosecution stated that they had recorded a statement from the fourth suspect in the case Premathileke at the Mahara Prison and that a further statement would be recorded from him.

The three suspects were not produced in Court while Abeysekera was being held at the Welikada Prison the other two were being detained at the Mahara Prison, the prosecution informed the Court in writing.
