Selected nurses to get NCD awareness training
The Ministry of Health has decided to conduct a training programme for a selected group nurses from hospitals countrywide to provide them with basic knowledge on how to educate the public in order to prevent the increase of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and on related treatments.
Issuing a Media release, the Ministry stated that this particular programme will be conducted in order to equip nurses with sufficient knowledge on how to treat patients afflicted with NCDs.
Another purpose of the training programme is to identify nurses with special skills in order to fill vacant cadres in hospitals. The Director of the Empowerment of Regional Health Services Project attached to the Ministry, Dr. Jayasundara Bandara stated that vacancies numbering 150 for nurses in countrywide hospitals will be filled with those who successfully complete the training programme.
