School children to be vaccinated within the next two weeks
State Minister of Production, Supply, and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals, Prof. Channa Jayasumana said that arrangements are being made to administer the Pfizer vaccine to school children within the next two weeks.
Speaking to media today (20), the State Minister said that 51% of the country's total population has received both doses of the vaccine.
He urged all individuals above the age of 20 to obtain their COVID vaccination immediately if they are still unvaccinated.
Commenting on the vaccination of children, State Minister Jayasumana said the government hopes to vaccinate children in an attempt to resume operations of the education sector, especially with examinations been postponed.
He claimed this delay affects students psychologically.
State Minister Jayasumana said the process will commence after consulting the Directors of Health Services and Provincial Directors of Health Services.
