The National Trade Union Centre (NTUC) says that any efforts made to sell the East Terminal in the Colombo Port to the Adani Group of India will only result in an economic loss to the State and affirmed there will be no tangible economic gain through the controversial move. They said that part of the East Terminal has already been developed and noted that a sum of US$486 million was required to develop the remaining part.
They explained that the SLPA was equipped with the necessary knowhow, workforce, the experience and the technology towards the development of the ET.
