Sajith slams land grabbing in Panama
By Nabiya Vaffoor
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa alleged yesterday (27) a new type of land grabbing has emerged in the country, which is currently affecting the Panama area. Premadasa, addressing a public gathering during his visit to the Sri Bodhirukkharamaya to look into reported land grabbing in the Panama Ragamwela village, claimed, “The Government is selling the country’s resources to foreigners for cheap.
Now they are even encouraging the plunder of lands of innocent citizens. No one should be allowed to grab these lands out of political power and money.” The Opposition Leader stressed the Government is pushing the country towards a tragic, lawless society. As the Opposition, we will take all possible actions against this looting being done under a law of the jungle, he added. Premadasa also received blessings of the Chief Incumbent of Uva Wellassa, Ven. Panama Sri Chandraratana Thera, during the visit.
