Sajith misused Rs 11B CCF funds – Lakshman Yapa
Former MP Sajith Premadasa is responsible for the misappropriation of Rs 11 billion from the Central Cultural Fund (CCF), claimed former MP Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena today (29). He was speaking at a Sri Lanka Freedom People’s Alliance Media briefing.
“We appointed a committee to investigate this and we have received the report.
According to the report, we have lost Rs 2,608 million in interest alone because of Premadasa’s misuse of these funds. Usually, the administration of the CCF is handled by a Board of Governors, and Premadasa has not sought any approval from this Board before using these funds,” he further claimed.
Abeywardena further requested that candidates contesting under the ‘telephone’ symbol were querying the misuse of funds by their leader.
Meanwhile, he also claimed that there was a conspiracy to remove former MP Basil Rajapaksa from the political arena, by certain political figures and added that the Acting IGP has been requested to launch an investigation in this regard.
“We learned that a former Minister and two other Sri Lankans have been discussing how to remove Rajapaksa from politics. We have requested the Acting IGP to carry out intensive investigations into this. We have also requested the security given to Rajapaksa to be increased,” he said.
