Sajith is a ‘voice cut leader’ – Amaraweera

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has become a ‘voice cut leader’ who always stages many dramas before the Media, Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said. The Opposition never acknowledges the Government’s good deeds and never plays their role as an Opposition correctly.
They only enact dramas before the Media, he said during a Media briefing at the Environment Ministry recently. When queried if the removal of the Lanka Phosphate Company from Minister Wimal Weerawansa’s portfolio was a ruse, Amaraweera said he does not believe so, and that Ministers are selected and replaced by the President as part of his powers.
He added that the Lanka Phosphate Company (LPC) used to be under the Ministry of Agriculture. “Now the President is promoting organic fertiliser and organic farming. Organic farming is overseen by a distinct state ministry. So, having the Phosphate Company under the purview of the Agriculture Ministry will be ideal for that purpose.
Therefore, I don't think the choice was a ruse,” he said. Responding to a journalist, who asked whether the SLPP is harassing minority parties in the Government including the SLFP, Amaraweera said the SLFP is not a minority party. In fact, it is the second largest party in the Government, he said.
“We do have some concerns with the Government’s activities, for sure. Our District Organisers are bullied. We will communicate this to the President and Prime Minister, but there is no need to split. We can work things out,” he said.
