Residents of the Iranaitivu island joined a group of Catholic priests protesting in Kilinochchi this morning (03) against the burial of COVID-19 victims on Iranathivu island.
There are currently 167 families living on the island, whilst another 120 families are due to enter the island as migrant fishermen.
Protesters demanded that the COVID-19 bodies not be buried on the island of Iranathivu, where they live and work as fishermen, adding that by doing so, there is a risk of the virus spreading to the people due to the depletion of water on the island.
