Reduce and control earnings from cigarettes and alcohol – Vajira
By Nabiya Vaffoor
The Government should reduce and control the income expected to be earned from cigarettes and alcohol, for about six months, in order to keep every citizen physically fit during the COVID-19 pandemic, United National Party (UNP) politician Vajira Abeywardana said.
He further added, though the estimated revenue from alcohol and tobacco is high, it is a dangerous income to incur during such a pandemic situation since it challenges the health of the public, making a majority of them vulnerable to the virus. Abeywardana expressed these views yesterday (24), during a Media briefing at the UNP headquarters, Sirikotha.
