Court of Appeal rejects Ranjan's writ petition
The writ application filed by Ranjan Ramanaye against the abolition of his parliamentary seat was rejected by the Court of Appeal.
The Attorney General and the Secretary-General of Parliament were named as respondents in the application.
The petition was taken up before Court of Appeal President Arjuna Obeysekera and Justice Mayadunne Corea, who ordered the decision to be delivered on Monday (05).
The Supreme Court found Ranjan Ramanayake guilty of Contempt of Court and sentenced him to four years in rigorous imprisonment on 12 January 2020.
