Rajitha criticises Govt

SJB MP Dr. Rajitha Senaratne criticised the Government for appointing unnecessary entities such as the current COVID-19 Task Force and involving Viyathmaga and other unnecessary officials to control the pandemic, without letting the experts at the Health Ministry handle the task.
Speaking to the Media at the Opposition Leader’s Office on Wednesday (23) Senaratne added, “The COVID-19 death rate in Sri Lanka is only second to India and Brazil.
Pakistan and Bangladesh death rates have started to reduce weekly but we are getting even closer to the Indian and Brazilian death rate.” Senaratne also noted that though the Government promised that it will vaccinate 100 per cent of the eligible Sri Lankan population by the end of May, they have failed to at least reach quarter of that population by the end of June.
“The Chairman of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) said the Prime Minister of Japan informed him they would provide 600,000 Oxford AstraZenecca doses but then it was confirmed as a false statement. The so called COVID19 Task Force and public officials are delivering contradictory stories to the President to just deceive the people,” he alleged.
