Local Rains likely to continue today

With a low-level atmospheric disturbance still persisting to the southeast of Sri Lanka, rains are likely to continue today (10), says the Met Department.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Central and Uva provinces and in the Hambantota district.

Fairly heavy showers of more than 50mm may occur at some places in the Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Hambantota, Polonnaruwa and Matale districts.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.

Heavy showers of around 100mm may occur at some places in the Ratnapura, Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts.

The Department requests the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
