Quarantine curfew to be lifted on Friday : Army Commander
Plans are underway to lift the ongoing quarantine curfew on Friday (01), Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is due to make an announcement in this regard within the next two days, he noted.
Further, General Silva stated that the Director General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardena is also due to issue a revised set of guidelines specific to various sectors, including public transport.
A directive issued last month, mandating all persons entering public places to carry proof of vaccination (COVID Vaccination card), was due to come into effect from 15 September.
However, no such regulation has been implemented as of now, the Army Commander noted, adding that the matter will be considered in the future.
Sri Lanka reported the lowest COVID-19 cases and fatalities in nearly two months yesterday (27), with 983 infectees detected, and 51 deaths confirmed for Sunday (26).
