CBSL warns of financial frauds and scams

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has received information regarding different types of financial frauds being carried out through social media and internet platforms as easy loan schemes that attract the public.
The fraudsters request confidential information such as card details, internet banking, and mobile banking usernames, and passwords. CBSL has called on the public to be vigilant and avoid falling victim to these scams.
The Central Bank advises the public to avoid sharing their banking details, such as card numbers, usernames, and passwords for online applications and refrain from giving permission for money lenders to access information on their phones.
The Central Bank also requests the public to obtain real-time notification services so they are made aware immediately whenever fraudulent activity occurs with their accounts.
