The Health Ministry launched a campaign themed ‘Towards New Normalcy’ to educate the public on how to protect against the COVID-19 virus and to continue their day-to-day life.

Health Ministry Spokesman, Viraj Abeysinghe, said yesterday (16) that the programme had been launched on 14 September by Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi. He said all advertisements and promotions of this campaign were launched on the same day.

The funds for the propaganda would be from the ‘Itukama’ Fund, while the World Health Organisation and the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) would provide technical support.

“We have been able to prevent the disease from infiltrating the community for over 100 days. Therefore, the people have to get used to continuing with the new normalcy. The Ministry hopes to instil in the minds of the people that if this situation is to continue, the public should persist in following its advice. The public would be able to adapt themselves to the new normalcy when they continue to receive these instructions regularly,” he said.
