Prophet Muhammad showed tolerance to all people – Prime Minster
I take this opportunity to convey my warmest a nd heartfelt greetings to Muslims throughout Sri Lanka as they commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad today, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said. He further said: Prophet Muhammad who dedicated his entire life towards the wellbeing of the human race was the person who gave prominence and added value to the Islamic faith. As he was able to win the affection and trust of others he was known by the name Al Amin.
According to the Islamic faith, the final messenger or emissary sent to earth by almighty God was Prophet Muhammad. Having spent a difficult childhood having lost both his parents, Prophet Muhammad then spent his adult life as an example to all humans by practicing his faith with no hatred or enmity to others.
As the messenger of God, Prophet Muhammad performed his task admirably for 23 years and advised those practicing this faith to follow suit. Like all religious teachers, Prophet Muhammad too practiced tolerance towards all beings sans any ill feeling or jealousy. Hence at a time when all Sri Lankans are presently grappling with the scourge of COVID-19, I urge them to take a leaf out of the book of Prophet Muhammad and lead their lives accordingly.
