Private sector should be allowed to give the jab – Kiriella
By Nabiya Vaffoor
The Government should give the private sector an opportunity to be a part of the COVID-19 vaccination programme, the SJB said. “The Government doesn’t have a precise programme to vaccinate the public. They have only purchased 500,000 doses of vaccines and 900,000 doses were donated by other countries. The Government hasn’t got enough funds to purchase vaccines for everyone.
This could lead to a major crisis,” SJB MP Lakshman Kiriella stated. Kiriella also said the Government should give solutions instead of blaming the public. “Countries such as India have already given the vaccine programme to the private sector. However, this should be strictly regulated,” he added. Kiriella expressed these views, on Thursday (13) at a press briefing at the Opposition Leader’s Office.
