Prisons out of bounds to outsiders after 5. 30 pm
By Kumudu Upul Shantha
The Prisons Department has decided to further strengthen regulations and henceforth no approval will be given to anyone outside the Department to enter Prisons after 5.30 p.m.. A top officer stated that Prisons Commissioner General Thushara Upuldeniya had already informed all Directors of Prisons not to permit outsiders other than those on official duty to enter Prisons after the aforesaid time.
He added this decision had been taken in the aftermath of the recent alleged incidents that had taken place at both the Welikada and Anuradhapura Prisons linked to ex-State Minister Lohan Ratwatte. He said these regulations will be strictly enforced henceforth.
