President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, in view of Poson Poya yesterday (24), pardoned 93 prison inmates, including 16 former LTTE cadres, imprisoned for over 13 years under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
According to Commissioner General of Prisons, Thushara Upuldeniya, they were all convicts under the PTA and not detainees, and have served over 13 years in prison. The former combatants released were from Mannar, Jaffna, and Matale Districts and were aged 35 to 50, he told Ceylon Today.
