President's 'discussion with the village' goes to North
The 17th “Discussion with the Village” program or Gama Samaga Pilisandarak presided by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will be held in the Northern Province for the first time today (03).
The public gathering beginning at 10.00am in Vedawaitayakallu will be attended by Ministers and MPs, Secretaries of Ministries, heads of various institutions and officials.
The President’s Media Division said they have identified issues with education and health services faced by people of the Northern Province.
Other issues faced by residents of the area are underdeveloped roads and transport issues since 2010, housing, electricity, lack of infrastructure, shortage of water for drinking and cultivation and human-elephant conflicts.
The PMD said issues that can be solved immediately will be discussed with the President during his visit and officials will be given instructions to resolve other issues after careful consideration.
The PMD added that the ultimate goal of “Discussion with the Village” is for the President to visit grassroots to better understand the difficulties faced by citizens to develop rural areas of the country.
