President's attempt to revoke my civic rights failed: AKD
JVP Leader and Colombo District Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake says that the President's attempt to revoke the civic rights of several political leaders, including himself has failed.
Dissanayake mentioned this during a meeting held at the JVP Party headquarters yesterday (04).
He pointed out that a commission was set up for that purpose by the President on 29 January for three months, however, it did not convene until 29 April.
Accordingly, it shows that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's attempt has failed, he said, adding that this commission is similar to the commission set up in 1978 to abolish the civic rights of Sirimavo Bandaranaike and several other politicians.
