Infrastructure development has commenced in the Himbiliyakada village in Matale, Wilgamuwa. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who visited the Matale District on 2 October, instructed officials to expedite the implementation of the programme, giving priority to the provision of essential construction and service facilities.

The purpose of the visit was to talk to the rural people about their long-standing unresolved issues and to present them to the officials and provide solutions.

Participating in the second programme of the 'Conversation with the Village', the President met villagers in the Wilgamuwa Divisional Secretariat Division, Deepu Oya, Ladyangala, Aliyawala, Veheragala, Himbiliyakada and several surrounding areas and listened to their grievances.

The people informed about land ownership, drinking water, and water for cultivation, dairy farmers, kidney disease, and many other issues. The land deed issue in the Hettipola Town, which has been unresolved for a long time has begun to be resolved. It is planned to prepare and issue 110 deeds for the lands enjoyed by the villagers of Himbiliyakada. Construction of a new classroom building and teachers' quarters for the Himbiliyakada Primary School and construction of a playground is being carried out with the labour assistance of the Army. The Navy is installing a reverse osmosis water treatment plant at the Himbiliyakada Nagavanarama Temple to provide clean drinking water.

The Army is planning to construct the Wattegedara and Dodamgolla Tanks in the Wilgamuwa Division which will irrigate about 2,000 acres of paddy lands.

Identifying water sources and the construction of 10 cultivation wells has commenced.
