President instructs officials not to disrupt traditional farming activities

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa stated that permission will be granted to farmers to engage in their traditional cultivation activities continuously without any disruption until related issues are resolved.
The President made the announcement after listening to issues raised by the farmers who attended the 6th in the series of programme “Discussion with the Village”.
Officials of the Wildlife, Forest Conservation, Environment, Police and other institutions were instructed by the President not to disturb traditional cultivation activities. However, the President emphasized that no one is allowed to clear forests for new cultivations.
The 6th “Discussion with the Village” programme was held in Wedikachchiya, Medirigiriya in the Polonnaruwa district yesterday (16).
Former President Maithripala Sirisena and a number of other political representatives were also present at the occasion.
