President appoints Cabraal as CBSL Governor
Former State Minister of Money & Capital Market and State Enterprise Reforms, Ajith Nivard Cabraal was appointed as the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) a short while ago (13).
The appointment was presented to Cabraal by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the President's Media Division said.
Cabraal is due to assume his duties as the 16th Governor of CBSL on Wednesday (15), while Prof. W. D. Lakshman, current Governor of CBSL is to retire from the post tomorrow (14).
Earlier today, the former State Minister handed over his letter of resignation to the Secretary General of Parliament, with SLPP National List MP Jayantha Ketagoda being appointed to fill the vacancy created by his resignation.
