Port City Bill debate put off
BY GAGANI WEERAKOON AND METHMALIE DISSANAYAKE
The Committee on Parliamentary Business yesterday (4) decided not to hold the debate on the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill today (5).
Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake said the decision was taken as Parliament has not received, as yet, the determination of the Supreme Court with regard to the petitions filed on the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill. Instead, the adjournment debate on the current situation of the country in the face of the COVID19 pandemic will be held today (5) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. without a lunch break.
After receiving the determination from the Supreme Court, Party Leaders will have to take a decision on when the debate should be held, Dassanayake said.
