By Anuradha Herath
JVP Politburo Member Bimal Rathnayake, said there are a number of serious problems that could arise, due to U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arriving in Sri Lanka amidst the COVID-19 outbreak.
He emphasised at a Media briefing held yesterday (25) the Government should explain immediately why the U.S. Secretary of State is arriving here on 28 October on an official visit, while the U.S. is ravaged by COVID-19. He said it was not a secret that powerful countries intervened in a special manner in Sri Lanka over the past few months and that Pompeo’s sudden visit is not to distribute flowering plants.
He also said the Sri Lankan Government and powerful foreign States are not following any COVID-19 rules and regulations, and went on to say that, if necessary, it is possible to exchange ideas over the Internet.
