Police arrest crooked exam invigilator

Police have arrested an exam invigilator, for allegedly answering a question paper, at an Advanced Level Examination Centre in Wadduwa.
The invigilator answered an Engineering Technology paper. Police said investigations are underway, following a complaint lodged by the headmaster.
Examination Department Commissioner General, Sanath Pujitha, yesterday (18), said they have prepared a separate system to monitor the examination. However, complaints have been received from examination centres in Kalutara, Colombo, Gampaha and Negombo regarding examination frauds and irregularities.
He said a complaint has been lodged with the CID regarding the incident and strict measures will be taken to prevent examination frauds.
“An Assistant Headmaster has been appointed to look into frauds and irregularities in each examination centre. Compared to last year, the number of complaints received from examination centres is low, but we have taken additional precautions to minimise fraud,” he said.
The Department of Examinations has taken steps to suspend the results of students who are involved in fraud and is conducting investigations.
