Plans afoot to bring Hisbullah back to politics

Sri Lanka Muslim Ulama Party (SLMUP) leader, Mubarak Abdul Majeed yesterday (7) told Ceylon Today they were planning to invite former Deputy Minister and Eastern Province Governor, M.L.A.M. Hisbullah to the proposed United Congress (UC) and bring him back to national politics. Majeed further said they were holding discussions with Hisbullah regarding the matter.
He said all documents, required for the registration of a new party have been submitted to the Elections Commission and added that according to the Constitution, they had the authority to function as a political party before registering as one. Majeed stated that the UC and SLMUP were trying to convince Hisbullah to join the proposed political party. He said the SLMUP will function as the Muslim unit of the proposed UC and expressed confidence that Hisbullah from the Ampara District will represent the UC.
