The Ministry of Education announced that a pilot project to administer the Pfizer vaccination to students taking the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in the Colombo District will begin tomorrow (15).

Pupils sitting for the Advanced Level Examination for the first and second time this year will be immunised across all educational zones in the district. L.M.D. Dharmasena, Additional Secretary of the Education Ministry, advised that pupils should participate in the vaccination programme using their identity cards.

The vaccination is available at the Homagama, Colombo, Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte, and Piliyandala Zonal Education Offices. This programme will run in conjunction with the school’s reopening on 21 October, and will be proceeded by a special announcement by the President and Prime Minister. “Students should go to the nearest vaccination centre after enquiring with their respective school principals, and they must present their National Identity Card.

We opted to deliver the vaccine at a common vaccination centre, considering the schools with the fewest children,” he explained. He asked the children and their parents to go to the Education Ministry’s official website for further information. Relevant notifications will be posted on the websites of the Ministries of Health and Education.
