President presents motorbikes to PHIs
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa presented motorbikes to Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) in appreciation of their commitment and service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The motorbikes were presented at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (18).
PHIs representing 26 selected Medical Health Zones covering the entire island, who had not received motorbikes during their service, were presented with 749 motorbikes. Also, another 56 PHIs received motorbikes on a priority basis.
Since 2015, no PHIs had been provided with motorbikes.
Further, PHIs were directed to follow a two-year fulltime course at the recruitment process, and the President said that the government will discuss with the University Grants Commission to extend PHIs training period and allow them to graduate at the end of the course.
