“People distrust govt. because it does the unexpected”
National Freedom Front leader and Minister Wimal Weerawansa has once again called upon president Gotabaya Rajapaksa to get involved in active politics in order to resolve most of the problems faced by the country.
The president’s participation in meetings like the party leaders’ meeting is crucial towards taking collective decisions, Weerawansa said.
He made these calls in a facebook post that was in response to ‘certain misinterpretations’ by social media of what had said at a recent meeting of the cabinet.
Weerawansa said what he had stressed on that occasion was that the people’s trust with many expectations in the present administration had been breached not because it had not fulfilled what was expected from it, but mainly because it was doing the unexpected.
When this continues to happen, the mistrust and disillusionment develops in the people, which have to be defeated and trust established speedily, he said.
Weerawansa also stressed that firm decisions would be possible only if cabinet papers are discussed within an adequate time period and adopted, instead of getting them passed in a hasty manner.
