PCR results in five hours

Director of the National Hospital Colombo Dr. Kumara Wickremasinghe on 12 January said measures have been taken to release PCR test results in five hours.

He said the new laboratory set up in the Hospital could carry out 200 PCR tests per day and observed that the results of the tests could now be obtained expeditiously.

Dr. Wickremasinghe added that due to the setting up of the new lab, the National Hospital has also been able to further streamline its accident service and the number of surgeries that are performed, unlike in the past.
