PCoI report could be misconstrued – Ven. Ananda Thera
By K.L. Suraweera - Kandy
Deputy Secretary of the Asgiriya Chapter Ven. Narampanawe Ananda Thera says that while browsing through the charges levelled in the report filed by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry which probed Easter Sunday terror attacks in 2019, an erroneous picture could be given to the outside world that the dastardly attack had been masterminded by Sinhala Buddhists in Sri Lanka. The Thera said that though the public expected that the Commission should hold those who had propagated religious extremism accountable for their actions, that task had not been fulfilled.
He made these remarks airing his views regarding the PCoI report.
Ven. Ananda Thera said it should not be forgotten that it had been organisations such as the BBS that had apprised the country regarding the proliferation of extremist organisations in this country well before the carnage had taken place.
