PCoI probing Easter Attacks untrustworthy: Mahinda Amaraweera
The Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Easter Sunday Attacks has lost its trust, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera states.
During an event held in Sooriyawewa today (01), he mentions that the report fails to highlight the perpetrators behind the attack.
"The report says nothing about who is behind the attack and who funded it, who is the leader of the said group and who maintained their international connections. It also has nothing mentioned about the future steps to be taken about theses attacks." The Minister said.
"According to the report, the perpetrators of the attack are people such as former President Maithripala Sirisena, Pujith Jayasundera, Hemasiri Fernando and several others. Were these people the leaders behind this attack? Were they the ones who were behind the bombs?" He stated.
The Minister emphasised that the Commission has not done its due job.
When inquired about steps to be taken against former President Maithripala Sirisena, Amaraweera said that various suggestions have come forth, including suggestions to remove Sirisena from the Party as well. However, since the Government has been formulated with the participation of the Party, it cannot be done.
The Party should persist with or without mistakes, he said.
