PC Polls should be held – EROS-EDPA

Leader of EROS Democratic Progressive Alliance, Nesan Shankar Raji, said their political party is registered as EROS-EDPA at the Election Commission recently, aiming to contest at the long-delayed Provincial Council (PC) Election.
He said amidst speculations that the Provincial Council System will be scrapped, the EROS-EDPA is happy that the Government has announced the holding of Provincial Council Elections, and also looks forward to the 13th Amendment that India has strongly pushed to be implemented.
The EROS-EDPA wrote to the Chairman of the Election Commission, Attorney-at-Law Nimal G. Punchihewa, undersigned by their General Secretary Ammasae Nallusamie, urging that the Provincial Council Act concerning amending the Provincial Council Elections in view of the Delimitation Report covering the new Provincial Council Act yet to be submitted. Consequently, the Legislature must take a decision to hold the Provincial Council Elections under the old system, the Party said.
EROS-EDPA proposed that the continuously delayed Provincial Council Elections should be held, to ensure the constitutionally approved Provincial Council framework is restored.
