Pavithra pledges to prevent and control diseases
Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi pledged to take measures to prevent and control diseases in the country.
Wanniarachchi, assuming duties yesterday (13), said as a country, all sections of society had worked to control COVID-19.
“In the Ministry of Health, there have been many instances where there have been allegations of fraud and corruption,” she said.
“According to the policy statement of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the vision of prosperity, the Ministry is ready to take up the challenge of creating a healthy Nation through the prevention and control of diseases. Arrangements in this regard have been given through a Gazette Notification,” she added.
She said she would continue her duties with a clean slate, maintaining transparency in spending public funds.
Meanwhile, the Public Health Inspectors’ Union of Sri Lanka extended their best wishes to Wanniarachchi and stated they hoped the Minister would be able to take the lead in fulfilling the national mission of preventing communicable and non-communicable diseases, especially by strengthening public health services and building a healthier country.
