Pakistan to implement strategy to curb mob violence
Pakistan’s government has decided to implement a comprehensive strategy to curb violence.
It comes in the wake of the mob lynching of Sri Lankan factory manage Priyantha Kumara Diyawadana in Sialkot.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, where the overall security situation in the country came under review.
“The meeting expressed serious concern over the cruel act of killing of Sri Lankan national Mr Priyantha Diyawadanage in Sialkot and expressed the resolve to bring the perpetrators to justice,” a government statement said.
The participants of the meeting were of the view that individuals and mobs cannot be allowed to take the law into their hands and such incidents cannot be tolerated.
They conveyed deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
