Padeniya asks PM to reduce income tax on doctors
GMOA president Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya has asked prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to change the government’s income tax policy on doctors and other professionals.
His request came at a meeting he had with the PM at Temple Trees this afternoon (25).
Padeniya called for a replacing of the relevant policy from the tenure of the good governance regime to the one that had existed during Mahinda Rajapaksa’s presidency.
What he asked for is a halving of a 24 per cent income tax rate.
The premier responded by instructing his officials to arrange a meeting with the relevant parties to discuss Padeniya’s request.
