Packeer Ali appointed Bangladesh Police head coach
Former Sri Lanka head coach Nizam Packeer Ali has been appointed as the head coach of the Bangladesh Police FC in the Bangladesh Premier League.
Police FC gained promotion to the Premier League for the very first time in the club’s history after emerging Champions at the 2018-19 Bangladesh Championship League.
The appointment of the experienced coach will no doubt be a big boost to the club, whose performance in the upcoming matches is bound to improve by leaps and bounds.
Packeer Ali is a former Sri Lankan international who made his debut in 1976 for Colombo York FC. He later went on to captain the National side during the 1980’s.
Packeer Ali, who hails from Matale, is one of the most experienced football coaches in the country, and started his professional coaching career as the head coach of Abahani Sports Club, Bangladesh in 1995. He has also functioned as the head coach for many local and foreign clubs in Bangladesh, India and Maldives.
He obtained his AFC ‘A’ License Coaching Certificate in 2008 and was the head coach of the National Youth Team from 2003 to 2007. He has also served as the Technical Director of Football Federation of Sri Lanka from 2012-14.
