Over 3,000 individuals have been arrested for not adhering to social distancing regulations and not wearing face masks, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

A total of 14 arrests were made yesterday (8) for the same offences, bringing the total number of arrested individuals to 3,324 from 30 October to date.

The Police are continuing special quarantine operations especially in the Colombo City and Western Province while continuing their daily duties, DIG Rohana said.

DIG Rohana urged the public to follow social distancing rules and guidelines according to the Gazette notification issues on 15 October 2020 in order to support the Police’s efforts in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
