Over 3,000 Lankans in ME contract COVID-19

Over 3,000 Sri Lankan expatriates serving in 14 Middle Eastern countries contracted COVID-19, and 70 have died. These figures were provided to the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) by Sri Lankan Diplomatic Missions.
A top officer from the SLBFE said around 45,000 Sri Lankan expatriates whose service contracts had expired are facing difficulties in the Middle East, and are unable to return home.
