Over 1,300 arrested for violating quarantine regulations
Police arrested over 1,300 persons for violating quarantine regulations during operations conducted yesterday (14), the Police Spokesperson, DIG Ajith Rohana says.
Accordingly, 1,356 persons were arrested, marking the highest number of arrests conducted in a single day since March 2020, when the quarantine regulations went into effect.
The Police Spokesperson said 146 persons were arrested from Matale, while 134 were arrested from Kandy and 116 from Kuliyapitiya.
Moreover, 33,949 persons have been arrested for violating quarantine regulations so far, DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He added that Police is conducting operations to crackdown on parties and other celebrations being held at night during the time period of travel restrictions being imposed.
