News Outgoing UK mission  Defence  Adviser makes farewell call on Defence Secy

Col. David Ashman, Resident Defence Adviser (DA) to the UK mission in Colombo who will complete his tenure in Sri Lanka, made a farewell call on Sri Lankan Defence Secretary, Gen. Kamal Gunaratne at the Defence Ministry, yesterday (7).

Col. Ashman and Col. Paul Clayton who will be taking over duties as the new Defence Adviser for Sri Lanka and the Maldives at the UK mission met the Defence Secretary at his office yesterday morning.

Gen. Gunaratne welcomed both officials and had cordial discussion with them. Col. Ashman expressed his gratitude to the Defence Secretary for the cooperation extended by the Defence Ministry during his tenure.

Gen. Gunaratne praised the services of the outgoing Defence Advisor and extended wishes for his future endeavours. The Defence Secretary assuring his fullest cooperation and support to strengthen defence ties between the two countries expressed his good wishes to Col. Clayton on his new posting.

He presented a memento to the outgoing Defence Adviser as a token of appreciation. 

Military Liaison Officer Maj. Gen. Dinesh Nanayakkara was also present.
